What does the Clean Air Action Group do?

Our NGO was founded in 1988, before the regime change. Our first big campaign was to ban leaded petrol, and improving air quality, the number one condition for healthy human life, has been our main goal ever since.

Air pollution causes the premature death of
7 million people worldwide every year.
Together, let’s try to save as many lives as possible!

Transport ‒ Fewer cars would not only mean cleaner air, but also more living space. And more physical activity in itself helps to maintain good health.

Heating ‒ Don’t burn coal, don’t burn green leaves, preferably don’t burn wood and certainly don’t burn waste. Insulate your home instead.

Overconsumption ‒ By buying unnecessary products you are indirectly polluting the air and accelerating climate change. Only buy products you really need.

Less meat ‒ Few people know that large-scale meat production is a major contributor to air pollution and climate change. A sustainable, meat-free or ‘low-meat’ diet is healthy and environmentally friendly.

Green spaces ‒ Protect green spaces to keep the Earth livable and full of life. Pave as few surfaces as possible in the garden and maintain as much natural vegetation as possible.

Sustainable leisure activities ‒ Travel to nearby destinations, accessible by train, is also a great experience and causes far less environmental damage than exotic holidays with long flights, for example.

Screen time ‒ We don’t even think about the harmful environmental impact of the internet world when we use our mobiles (think of the increasingly energy-intensive server farms), so cutting back on screen time not only saves us valuable time, it also saves the planet.

Active involvement in environmental protection, NGOs and small communities ‒ We all care about our future, and the most effective way to do this is to get involved in environmental initiatives, NGOs or simply to strengthen our small communities.
